Cameras are gathered currently from each state's traffic authority, however other sources are currently being looked at to offer additional images.

We think it's a great addition to the Snarl service, and as always feel free to let us know your thoughts.

Snarl Launches in Melbourne! - Press Release

Snarl Traffic, the popular traffic service that has previously been available in NSW and Queensland, has now switched on its' service in Victoria with the move into Melbourne Traffic Incidents.

Snarl combines a free website with a free iPhone application to provide users information about the current condition on the roads. Melbourne users can now access traffic information in both the website and iPhone application.

By using Snarl, users can quickly view traffic incidents that have occurred on the roads and can work out how to avoid them, making their travel times quicker.

The latest version of the Snarl Traffic iPhone Application (v1.20) added support for traffic cameras, so that users could not only see what incidents had occured, but are also able to see the damage in real time by viewing images of the road ahead.

Snarl Wins iPitch Contest

Thanks to the guys at iPitch.com.au Snarl has won the Lights, Camera, Pitch Contest.

The contest allows Snarl to show off our creative skills with a pitch video showing off what we are all about. We'll be sure to post it when we have the results in, unless we really make a mess of it!

iPitch is a site showcasing Australian startup companies, and is emerging as a very valuable resource for the Australian startup community, of which Snarl is very proud to be a part.

Thanks again Rachel and the iPitch team, and watch this space!

Beautiful One Day, Traffic Jam the Next

You have probably already noticed, but late yesterday Snarl opened up to Queensland users!

This follows on from the latest iPhone app version that was made available on the app store over the weekend, and enables access to Queensland traffic.

There are still some issues to iron out, and information may not be as accurate as possible just yet, however over the next few weeks we'll be tightening this up to give you the most accurate Brisbane and Queensland traffic as possible.

The new section of the site is available at http://queensland.snarl.com.au and the mobile version of the site will be updated soon!

We welcome all our new Queensland users, and hope you enjoy using Snarl.com.au!

Mobile Traffic

A lot of people have noticed already, but this week saw the launch of Snarl mobile traffic for Sydney!

This new version caters to those who are visiting Snarl on mobile devices, and makes the site much easier to digest using these smaller screens. Blackberry, Iphone and Android devices, as well as devices using either WIndows Mobile, Opera Mobile or similar browsers are supported.

To view the site, simply visit Snarl.com.au using a mobile device to be redirected to the new version!

Sydney Anomalies

We have had a few issues with the incidents today. There were incidents being reported but not displayed, and this was mostly affecting regional areas. This has been remedied now, and we can report that our traffic will now be EVEN MORE accurate, especially in these areas.

A big mention goes out to Scott from Northern Illawarra Online who got in touch with us to point this out. A big thanks Scott, much appreciated.

Sydney Traffic Twitter: Now Giving You Less!

As pointed out by a number of users, there are a lot of traffic incidents posted by Snarl to Twitter everyday.

To combat the 'noise' we are now separating regional NSW traffic tweets into their own account, which can be found at http://twitter.com/snarlnsw. Now http://twitter.com/snarltraffic will only contain traffic incidents from the Sydney region.

Thanks to those people who have given feedback since we started up. We are always happy to listen to ideas, and as you can see are more than likely to act on them!

Snarl Traffic iPhone App Now Available

Snarl Traffic is now available on the iPhone App Store.

"Work is being undertaken at night and results in lane and ramp closures (reduced speeds and detours). Daily updates are posted on twitter: HillsM2Roadwork and detour maps are available at hillsm2.com.au

Over the next four nights, starting tonight, Pennant Hills Road ramps will be closed. We're trying to get the message out as broadly as possible so people can plan their travel."
