Traffic Incidents related to Warringah Road at Starkey Street, Forestville, NSW
A change is now in place at the Warringah Rd and Forest Way intersection.
The separated merge lane for motorists turning right out of Forest Way to Warringah Rd city bound has been removed. Right-turning vehicles will now travel through the intersection instead of on the separated merge lane.
A red light has been introduced for Warringah Rd city bound on approach to the Forest Way intersection, to allow vehicles to turn right safely out of Forest Way towards Chatswood and the city.
Traffic will be heavy on Warringah Rd, Wakehurst Pkwy, Forest Way and other roads in the area, particularly during AM and PM peaks. Motorists are encouraged to allow plenty of extra travel time and avoid driving in the peaks where possible.
Traffic on Warringah Road will move onto upgraded eastbound lanes from Forest Way to east of Wakehurst Parkway. Changes during the work will include:
- From 4pm Saturday to 8am Sunday, traffic lights at the Forest Way and Wakehurst Parkway intersections will be switched off and Warringah Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
- By 8am Sunday, eastbound traffic will be using the new lanes.
- From 9pm Saturday to 5am Monday, Hilmer Street will be left-in and left-out only at Warringah Road. Access from Warringah Road eastbound will be via Allambie Road, Rodborough Road and Warringah Road (westbound).
- From 4pm Sunday to 5am Monday, traffic lights will be switched off at Hilmer Street while the intersection is rearranged.
Changed traffic arrangements that will apply from 8am Sunday onwards:
- The right turn from Wakehurst Parkway northbound to Warringah Road eastbound will be temporarily removed (will return at a later date as construction progresses). Motorists can turn right at Frenchs Forest Road.
- The left turn slip lane from Wakehurst Parkway southbound to Warringah Road eastbound will be permanently removed. Motorists can turn left at the traffic lights, from the kerbside lane.
- The shared use path on the northern side of Warringah Road will be open between Forest Way and Wakehurst Parkway.
