Traffic Incidents related to Botany Rd approaching Mill Pond Drive, Mascot, NSW
Travellers heading off on holiday or to visit family or friends this summer are being urged to use public transport as Sydney Airport prepares for the busy holiday period. Large numbers of passengers are expected to fly in and out of Sydney during the school and summer holidays.
Traffic is expected to be heavy on roads in and around the airport with the busiest times between 6am and 11:30am every day at both the T1 International and T2 T3 Domestic terminals, and from 6pm to 10pm at the Domestic terminals.
The T8 Airport and South train line will cater for the increased holiday demand, helping those heading off interstate and overseas as well those arriving into Sydney.
Travellers should strongly consider catching the train, and if they must drive are reminded to allow plenty of additional time and be aware of ongoing work to upgrade roads around the airport precinct, including along Joyce Dr.
The Southern Cross Drive Wentworth Avenue off-ramp and 2 of 3 southbound lanes approaching the off-ramp will be closed from 1am to 4am on Sunday morning. The speed limit will also be reduced to 60km/h.
Motorists can use the Botany Road off-ramp to continue their trip.
These closures are in effect to support trucks accessing The Lakes Golf Club for set up of the Australian Open Golf Tournament.
