Traffic Incidents related to Stewart Ave near Hunter Street, Newcastle West, NSW
Changed traffic conditions will be in place in Newcastle CBD for a planned protest between 12.30pm and 1pm. The group will assemble at Auckland St then cross King St and assemble within Civic Park.
Auckland St will be closed between Hunter St and King St while the protest is underway.
Motorists who need to get between Hunter St and King St can use Darby St or Union St and those travelling eastbound or westbound on King St near Auckland
St can use Hunter St.
Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time and avoid roads around Civic Park during this time.
Temporary infrastructure works between 15 October and 22 November underway to prepare for the Supercars Newcastle 500 on 23-25 November. Changed traffic conditions in effect until mid-December while infrastructure is removed.
Special event clearway parking restrictions will be in effect to facilitate the works at the following dates/times:
Mon 5 to Wed 7 Nov from 6am to 6pm daily on both sides of Watt St between James Fletcher Hospital and Scott St.
From 6am Mon 5 November through until 7am, Fri 30 November on sections of Bolton St between King St and Church St and the southern side of Church St between Bolton St and Newcomen St.
Mon 12 Nov from 6am to 6pm on both sides of Watt St between Scott St and Wharf Rd and on Wharf Rd between Watt St and the pedestrian crossing.
Special event clearway parking restrictions are strict no-parking zones, and also apply to local residents and RMS Mobility Scheme Permit holders. Vehicles left in clearways will be towed and a fee applies so check signs carefully.
